Former pupil Jacqui Hurley (RTÉ) kindly cut the ribbon for us.
Guest of honour Donal Cashman (retired principal of Ballyheada) planted a tree in our garden. This is a replacement for the tree we removed to make space for the playground. That tree had been planted on his retirement from the school and he supported us removing it for the playground.
Breda O’Donovan dedicated the play benches to the memory of parents no longer with us and spoke of how special the benches are to our school.
To mark the occasion each child received a bag of sweets and tea/coffee was served in the hall for parents and friends. Thank you to all who came to support the event.
On behalf of the playground development committee THANK YOU to everyone who supported us in this project. It is a lovely reflection on how amazing our school community is that we could achieve such a wonderful outcome.
Hopefully our children using this playground will teach us all that ‘Life is More Fun When You Play Games’ (Roald Dahl)
